All Elite Wrestling present AEW Rampage Grand Slam this Friday for Arthur Ashe Stadium. After a fantastic edition of Dynamite this past Wednesday the action continues. This week’s Rampage is a special two-hour edition. It continues the great matchups from Dynamite. We take a look at the card and try to predict the outcomes without looking at spoilers.
CM Punk vs Powerhouse Hobbs
This will be CM Punk‘s first television match in over 7 years. It’s a big honor for Hobbs to be the one facing Punk. Punk has mentioned he is here to help build and establish the younger talent. At this point just being in the ring with Punk achieves this. Punk will go over in this match, only to help make his first loss in time more effective to the person who defeats him.
Winners: CM Punk
Adam Cole and The Young Bucks vs Christian Cage and Jungle Express
The war between The Elite, Cage, and Jungle Express continues this week. We will possibly see Adam Cole and Christian Cage square off in the coming weeks and this match will take us down that road. The only sad part is that after Jungle Boy’s rise earlier this year he has been forgotten about. I can see The Young Bucks hitting their double-team move and pinning Jungle Boy for the win.
Winners: The Elite
Anna Jay vs Penelope Ford
Anna Jay has connected with the fans since joining the Dark Order. Her reception since returning has proved this. Her continued feud along with Tay Conti against The Bunny and Penelope Ford is the main focus of AEW shows as of late. I’m sure we will see the inevitable tag match at some point down the road and this continues that story.
Winner: Anna Jay
Jon Moxley and Eddie Kingston vs Suzuki Gun
This match is being contested under lights-out rules which means it will main event the show. I will imagine all 4 will impress and take some crazy bumps. We will see weapons and some hard-hitting but Eddie Kingston will stand tall in his home city to close out the evening and both shows.
Winners: Jon Moxley and Eddie Kingston
Men of the Year vs Chris Jericho and Jake Hager
Men of the Year have aligned themselves with Dale Lambert of America’s Top Team. Lambert has had plenty of screen time as of late and if he is to continue to stick around, Men of the Year will pick up the win. But I can also see Jericho and Hager picking up the win. A win for Hager could create a storyline with Hager going against one of Lambert’s MMA fighters and a possible cross-promotion.
Winners: Chris Jericho and Jake Hager
Lucha Brothers, Santana and Ortiz vs Private Party, The Butcher and the Blade
Butcher and the Blade lost their AEW Tag Team Championship last week. That match set up this match. This will most likely set tension between the Lucha Brothers and Santana and Ortiz. The two are on a collision course along with FTR to meet for the Tag Titles soon. This will be the first step on that road.
Winners: Lucha Brothers, Santana, and Ortiz
Rampage will be another special night for All Elite Wrestling and will be remembered for a long time.
