AEW Wednesday Night Dynamite: A Very Emotional Tribute To Jon Huber

*Spoilers Ahead!

12-30-2020, the final dynamite of 2020 was a tribute to Mr. Brodie Lee (Jon Huber). Each match was handpicked by Brodie’s son, Brodie Lee Jr., or A Negative One(-1), his Dark Order name. The show began with a fitting 10-bell salute to Mr. Brodie Lee, with the entire AEW Roster standing on the ramp to honor the man and the legacy he left behind.

AEW World Tag Team Champions The Young Bucks—Matt & Nick Jackson, & Colt “Boom Boom” Cabana (of the Dark Order) vs. Private Party—Marq Quen & Isiah Kassidy, & Matt Hardy!

A very fast-paced match, with a lot of high flying action. Back and forth the match went with finishers, kick-outs, and saves being fast and furious, until Cabana and the Young Bucks combined to get the better of Kassidy, allowing Cabana to get a superman cover for the victory!

The Acclaimed approached the ring only to be foiled by SCU’s Christopher Daniels and Frankie Kazarian. They were knocked into the ring only to be superkicked and were struck by a Cabana’s elbow.

Eddie Kingston, The Butcher & The Blade (with The Bunny) vs. “The MurderHawk Monster” Lance Archer (with Jake “The Snake” Roberts), Evil Uno & Stu Grayson (of the Dark Order)!

“The donnybrook has begun,” announced Chris Jericho from his commentary spot for the evening, as Evil Uno hit Eddie Kingston with a huge boot to the head!

Not as high flying as the match; a very physical back and forth match with all six men being very large in stature. Several acts of strength were shown, till Grayson hit the fatality finisher on Blade allowing Evil Uno to get the pin! After the match, Jake “The Snake” Roberts hit his legendary short-armed clothesline on Kingston! I got goosebumps; it was great to see “The Snake” active in the ring again.

Inner Circle members—MJF (with Wardlow), Santana & Ortiz (with Sammy Guevara and Jake Hager) vs. “Hangman” Adam Page, and Dark Order’s John Silver & Alex Reynolds!

This was a fun match, very physical and a very quick pace, but the fun was watching MJF bad-mouth Brodie Lee Jr., who was watching from ringside, you knew something was coming and MJF played it to a Tee. MJF even went as far as to flip off Little Brodie, and getting right in the young man’s face, until Little Brodie had enough and laid out MJF with a kendo stick. Back in the ring, Wardlow began laying out Page, Silver, and Reynolds until Erick Redbeard (Erick Rowan in the WWE and Jon Huber’s Tag-Team partner) hit the ring to even the odds! John Silver used Mr. Brodie Lee’s huge clothesline to get the pin on Ortiz!

Erick RedBeard came back to the ring and held up a sign: “Goodbye, for now, my brother. See you down the road.” I promise you there was not a dry eye in the house or my house as well.

Anna “99” Jay (of the Dark Order) & Tay Conti vs. Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. (with “Rebel”) & Penelope Ford (with Kip Sabian, and Miro)!

The ladies really showed off during this match, really giving maximum effort and having a great match. Baker and Ford held the upper hand for most of the match with a lot of outside assistance. In the end, Anna Jay caught Ford in the Queen Slayer finisher forcing her to submit!

The Main Event was Brodie Lee Jr’s Dream Match!

“The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes (with Arn Anderson), “Freshly Squeezed” Orange Cassidy (with Chuck Taylor & Trent), & Dark Order’s “10” vs. Team Taz’s “The Machine” Brian Cage, Ricky Starks, & Powerhouse Hobbs (with Taz & Hook)!

Hobbs and Cage really displayed their power in this match and Starks showed he is a really great in-ring performer as Team Taz really took it to Little Brodie’s Favorite three favorite wrestlers. Rhodes, Cassidy, and “10” worked well together to frustrated Taz enough that he grabbed a chair and headed for the ring only to be met on the ramp by “Double-A” Arn Anderson.

The ref tried to stop the chair clash and regain order, while in the ring, Cassidy hit the Orange Punch, then Cody hit CrossRhodes and “10” finished off Stark with a Spine Buster; then, he covered him for the win. This was said to be 10’s biggest win of his career!

Team Taz returned to the ring and attacked Rhodes, Cassidy, and 10, and the arena went black! Darby Allin’s music hit, and the crowd erupted as Darby appeared with his skateboard.

The arena went black again! It began to snow and the “Icon” Sting emerged from the same area as Allin! Sting and Allin joined Rhodes, Cassidy, and 10 in the ring, causing a tense staredown with Team Taz. Team Taz then tucked tail and retreated to the back!

After the order was restored and things calmed down, Cody was alone in the ring. The crowd chanted for Brodie! Cody teared up as he spoke about Brodie, he said Brodie Lee was a beautiful man, and then Cody introduced Brodie Lee Jr!

Brodie Lee Jr. walked to the ring with his mother. They were accompanied by Tony Khan, and 10. Brodie Lee, Jr. placed his father’s boots in the middle of the ring to retire them and Cody covered them with a purple handkerchief. Tony Khan presented Brodie Lee, Jr. with the TNT Championship. Tony Khan said Brodie Lee was the greatest TNT Champion and said Brodie Lee was the TNT Champion for life.

The talk is that, that TNT Championship belt will no longer be used, and a brand new title belt will be created! As the show faded, Little Brodie was in the ring holding the title standing beside his dad’s boots, which was such a surreal moment.

Throughout the night, many superstars talked about Brodie, what he meant to them personally, and what he meant to pro wrestling; no one had anything bad to say. He was a constant professional, a great man, a wonderful husband, and never tiring father. More than one superstar stated his family was everything to him. Even in the hectic lifestyle of a professional wrestler, a family came first.

It was such a great tribute Wednesday night, and I have no problem telling you I cried more than once and had tears welling up in my eyes for most of the program!

Thank you Jon Huber, you will be missed!
