Atlanta Hawks Vs New York Knicks: Game Three Preview

After a wild game two at the garden, the Knicks tied their series with the Hawks 1-1. The New York Knicks travel to Atlanta for game three. Like the previous games of this series, this is going to be a hard-fought, heated contest that will most likely come down to the wire. Tensions are high between these two teams, which won’t change for the rest of this series. The Knicks play a physical brand of basketball, and that will not change down in Atlanta. The Knicks need to stop Trae Young; that is how you beat Atlanta.

Odds for Tonight’s game as of Friday morning

Atlanta Hawks

Hawks are four-point favorites to beat the Knicks in Atlanta tonight. We can expect to see John Collins rebound and earn his minutes back, after disastrous performances in games one and two in New York. Since Danilo Gallinari has been abysmal on the offensive end of the floor, Hawks fans will hope to see less of him and more of Solomon Hill.

Poor rotation was a big reason why the Hawks lost the second game at Madison Square Garden. Coach Nate McMillan rested Hawks starters longer than necessary, and the Hawks were unable to overcome the point deficit as a result. McMillan defended his rotation in an interview, so it appears Trae Young will only be playing 35 minutes tonight. The Atlanta Hawks should put Trae Young into the game at the ten-minute mark in the fourth quarter, no matter what the score is. Put your best players in the game as long as possible.

New York Knicks

Be prepared for another big night from the veteran point guard, Derrick Rose. Rose has averaged 21 points and played an average of 38 minutes in the first two games of the series. He is their best guard, and Thibodeau knows it. See his individual stat line for games one and two below.

Derrick Rose Statistics From Game 1 and Game 2

The Knicks will continue to double-team Trae Young and play exceptional defense. Nerlens Noel has not shown up in terms of stats but has been a great role player and facilitator for this Knicks’ defense. Expect a lot of fouls on the Knicks’ defense, they will make Atlanta earn their points at the free-throw line tonight.

Atlanta will win tonight. Trae Young has something to prove after Knicks’ fans treated him so poorly at the garden. He was heckled and spit on. It’s time for Trae to silence New York again.
