CFB Week 9 Games To Watch

1.) #3 Ohio State @ #18 Penn State – 7:30 p.m. Saturday – ABC – OSU -11.5, O62.5

A top-25 Big 10 conference game is ranked #1 on my list this weekend. Justin Fields is looking to come out and continue building his case for the Heisman trophy while simultaneously helping Ohio State build their case for a birth in the college football playoff despite only having an eight-game schedule. Penn State comes off a 1-point loss to unranked Indiana, with their top two running backs sidelined for this game against the best team in the conference and the best team they’ll play all year. Penn State would have a hard time beating this Ohio State team when fully healthy and with a fully packed crowd, and with neither of those two things in play, I see Ohio State dominating on both sides of the ball and obliterating the Nittany Lions; completely ruining their season.

Prediction: Ohio State -11.5, O62.5

2.) Boston College @ #1 Clemson – 12 p.m. Saturday – ABC – CLEM -31.5, O59.5

Clemson enters this game against unranked Boston College without the consensus number 1 overall pick in the 2021 NFL draft, Trevor Lawrence, due to a positive COVID-19 test result. Other than Lawrence, Clemson is young and inexperienced at the quarterback position leaving many questions to be answered, and at the time of posting this article, it’s currently unknown who will step up and replace Lawrence.

However, Clemson is such a powerhouse program, even without Lawrence, I still don’t see them having any problems handling BC. Travis Etienne will carry the load offensively against the Eagles and they will come out with a statement victory without their star quarterback.

Prediction: BC +31.5, O59.5

3.) Texas @ #6 Oklahoma State – 4 p.m. Saturday – FOX – OKST -6, O57.5

In this matchup against (on paper) one of the best offenses in the country, Texas, and one of the best defenses in the country, Oklahoma State, it should be a close game from start to finish. Chuba Hubbard is looking to continue his three-game streak of over 100-yards rushing, and this Oklahoma State team will need all of it. Oklahoma State has the best running game in America, averaging 216 yards per game, and Texas is defeated this season when allowing 200 plus yards on the ground.

Sam Ehlinger will come out and have a Sam Ehlinger game, but this game will ride solely on whether or not Texas defense can contain the Cowboys ground game. I think this will be the most entertaining game of the week; if the Longhorns defense comes to play I the winning team to win by one score; however, if Texas’ defense does not play their best game of the season, I see OKST running away with this game in a landslide victory.

Prediction: Oklahoma State -6, U57.5

4.) #24 Oklahoma @ Texas Tech – 8 p.m. Saturday – FOX – OU -14.5, O72.5

Another Big 12 conference game, another high scoring game. I do not see this game being close at all as this Oklahoma continues their march to prove to the rest of the country that they are real and the two losses are flukes. Spencer Rattler seems to have found his grove the past few games and will look to continue to build on that as the season goes on, and freshman wide receiver Marvin Mims and junior running back T.J. Pledger have stepped up to help shoulder the load. Texas Tech allowed 438 yards to a terrible West Virginia offense, so the Sooners should be able to come out and on top of that, allowing them to come out on top in Lubbock.

Prediction: OU -14.5, U72

5.) Michigan State @ #13 Michigan – 12 p.m. Saturday – FOX – MICH -25, O51.5

Not much to say here other than that it’s one of the best and biggest rivalries in college sports. Sparty vs T.T.U.N. Michigan is a heavy favorite, and I expect them to live up to those expectations to come out on top; but, this is the type of rivalry game where it doesn’t matter, expect everyone on Michigan and Michigan State to wake up, eat their Wheaties, and get up for this game. I’ll be rooting for a close game that fans and alumnus of the two respective schools will be talking about for years to come. Tune in and don’t miss out on this storied rivalry game.

Prediction: Michigan State +25, U51.5
