Game 1 made one thing very clear and that is that the Dodgers are real, perhaps more real than we expected. The Los Angeles Dodgers took advantage of the unexpected poor pitching performance by Tyler Glasnow and hammered him for four runs, (six earned) before getting the hook in the fifth inning. Cody Bellinger got the bats going for LA in the 4th with a two-run home run to right-center and they never looked back after that.
Clayton Kershaw showed up and threw a gem going six innings, allowing two hits, one run, and retiring eight answering the, “Can Clayton Kershaw pitch in big games?” question that was followed him like a shadow for as long as I can remember and silencing the haters for the time being.
Overall it was a dominant performance by the Dodgers, one they’ll be looking to repeat Tuesday night as they aim to take a big 2-0 lead and get halfway to that elusive World Series trophy that has escaped them two of the past three years.
