North Dakota State, 6’3” 21 Pounds
- Powerful Arm
- Good Athlete
- Deep-Ball Precision
- Field Vision
- Slow Working Through Progressions
As a redshirt freshman in 2019, Lance led the Bison to an undefeated season and another National Championship. He produced a huge year, completing 67 percent of his passes for 2,786 yards, 28 touchdowns, with zero interceptions. He also ran for 1,100 yards and picked up 14 rushing touchdowns.
North Dakota State played only one game in 2020 due to COVID-19 limitations. Against Central Arkansas, Lance flashed his big-time skill set. Completing 15-of-30 passes in 2020 for 149 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception. He also turned 15 carries into 143 yards and two touchdowns.
As a passer Lance has NFL ability. His powerful and strong arm will allow him to make all the throws needed in the NFL. From firing fastballs in tight windows to airing in out on the deep ball. Overall he has good accuracy, and his deep ball precision is very impressive.

For such a young player Lance is very poise. He is very calm in the pocket and shows awareness when the pocket is collapsing around him. He will use his legs to buy time and shows on film that he keeps his eyes downfield as he scrambles. Mobility is a big factor in his game. His running ability jumps off the film. Also, can be seen his stats.
Areas of Improvement:
Lance is a very young player with really only one full season as a starter. So it isn’t surprising that he has some raw elements to his game and needs development. He has issues seeing the field. He can lock onto his primary read, take off running when his first read is covered, and be slow to work through his progressions.
Lance has the talent to be a good NFL starter, but given his lack of playing time and development, his pro team will need to be patient to not waste the raw talent that Lance possesses. We can see Lance come off the board as early as the second pick to the New York Jets. I believe he will be selected in the top 10 picks in this year’s NFL Draft.
