Five Bold Predictions For NFL Week 11

So far, the NFL season has given us some pretty good ideas of who should be in playoff contention through the end of the season, but there’s always that “Any Given Sunday” game(s) that just make you scratch your head or lose your voice cursing at your favorite team. Here are five bold head-scratching predictions we could see this weekend in the NFL:

1. Falcons over Saints 35-27

Since Drew Brees is out for a couple of weeks at least and utility man Taysom Hill will be taking the snaps on Sunday, the Falcons will have a strong showing coming off a bye week and go into New Orleans for the second year in a row to upset the Saints again. Matt Ryan has a day and throws for over 325 yds and 4 TDs.

If you recall, last year, the 1-7 Falcons came in and handily beat the Saints 26-9 in Week 10. Interim coach Raheem Morris is 3-1 since he took over the helm for Dan Quinn and should be 4-0 if it wasn’t for Todd Gurley’s moronic play that led to Detroit’s miracle one-point victory in Week 7. When it comes down to it, probably a more realistic upset than most people realize.

2. Jets over Chargers 23-21

That’s right, you heard it here first; the NY Jets get their first win of the season over the LA Chargers, and here’s why:

They are coming off a bye week, so any extra preparation is never a bad thing. Last week was the first time all season their core receiving group was on the field together with the likes of Denzel Mims, Breshad Perriman, and Jamison Crowder, and they nearly defeated the Patriots before a late collapse; losing on a game-winning FG in the final seconds. The Chargers, on the other hand, are 2-7, with every loss being by eight points or less, and Sunday will be no different. Veteran Joe Flacco will be taking snaps for the Jets and will go into the new SoFi Stadium in LA and sneak one out, which will probably be the only win of the year.

3.  Raiders over Chiefs 38-35/OT

With everything favoring the Chiefs coming off of a bye week, from Andy Reid being 18-3 coming off a bye week to redemption for the victory lap the Raiders bus did around Arrowhead after their victory earlier this year, it will not be an ideal trip to Sin City. For the first time since 2012, the Raiders will sweep the season series against the Chiefs with speedster wideout Henry Ruggs III burning the secondary and sophomore RB Josh Jacobs getting 150+ all-purpose yards; combining for 4 TD’s between the two. That is if the Raiders starting defense comes off the COVID-19 list in time for their prime time Sunday night slot because if they don’t, the Chiefs could put up 60 points.

4.  Packers over Colts 38-24

The Colts may have a tough defense, but when you’re going up against Aaron Rodgers and company, all bets are off. Although Indy is favored in this game, it’s because they are at home. The lack of fans in the stands has made this NFL season definitely one to remember, and from a player standpoint, going into an opposing stadium hasn’t been too big of an issue; plus, the fact it’s still Philip Rivers and he will either throw for 400 yards or 3 INTs.  I’m betting on the latter in this case.

5. Jaguars over Steelers 28-27

Stranger things have happened, you want a bold prediction, here it is. Big Ben struggles and the Jags force a few turnovers and capitalize. That’s probably the only way that goes down in favor of Jacksonville.

This NFL season has definitely seen its ups, downs, postponements, introduction of the “COVID-19 list”, so we’ve come to learn that anything is possible. I’m probably going 0 for 5 here, but hey, it is 2020: crazier things have happened.
