Green Bay Packers Roster Breakdown: Quarterbacks

Here's your Green Bay Packers roster breakdown brought to you by Border Fuel Sports:

This will be a breakdown of the roster heading into training camp. We will go position by position. Let’s start with the ‘”easiest” one. Where there is no question or uncertainty…end of sarcasm. So let’s get to it!

Aaron Rodgers:

We all know about A-rod. Hall of Famer, MVP, Superbowl MVP, complicated fella’ etc… I don’t see how he doesn’t end up back in Green Bay. He has no leverage in the situation and the Packers are probably his best chance to win a Superbowl next season. After that? Who knows.

Jordan Love:

He definitely has the talent to be the heir apparent to Rodgers. Whether he can reach his upside? That’s up to him. He probably needs one more year to develop though.

He has shown improvement in OTA’s and minicamp. If Rodgers sits out or is traded, Jordan will end up the starter. The Packers will want to get him on the field. So they can find out what they have in him.

Blake Bortles:

The NFL veteran has been through it all. He’s been to an AFC championship. He is a great influence/mentor for Love to look up to and learn from. If/when Rodgers shows up to camp, does Bortles then make the roster?

Probably not. It’s possible, but if Rodgers is there, they probably just go with Love and Rodgers. If he’s gone? Then, they probably Keep Bortles as a veteran presence.

Kurt Benkert:

Here is where it gets a little interesting. Benkert has upside. I liked him coming out of Virginia. He was a two-year starter. He threw for 5759 yards with 46 TD’s and a 122.6 rating. For a #3/#4 Camp QB, he’s looked pretty good so far. He has a shot at catching on to the practice squad.

Jake Dolegala:

An undrafted free agent in 2019 out of Central Connecticut State. He spent 2019 with Cincinnati and 2020 on New England’s practice squad. He is a big guy at 6’7, 240 pounds, and was a four-year starter in college. He seems like more of a pocket passer based on his athletic testing.

He looks to be just a camp arm at best. He might not even make it to camp. We shall see though.

So in summation, coming out of camp, the Packers will probably roll with just Rodgers and Love with Benkert on the PS.

If Rodgers is gone, then its probably Love and Bortles with Benkert having an outside shot at the roster.

The next part will be the running backs so keep an eye out for that one. Also, I will be doing a 53 man roster prediction the first week of camp and an updated one the last week of camp.
