They spent the draft picking up four very talented young men in Jalen Green, Alperen Sengun, Usman Garuba, and Josh Christopher to join a solid young core of Christian Wood, Kevin Porter Jr., and KJ Martin which is also going to be led by veterans John Wall and Eric Gordon. So, the talent is there but do we wait and see? Or do we build even more?
Maybe we can wait
Now looking into the youth movement that the Rockets are clearly heading towards, you could very easily be intrigued by a potential wait-and-see move. KPJ isn’t anywhere near a finished product, even though he became the youngest player with a 50 point, ten assist game in league history; against the eventual champion, I might add.
Then beside him, you have Green coming in as one of the best pure scorers the draft’s seen in a while, KJ’s elite athleticism, Sengun’s veteran savvy at a young age, a Jae’sean Tate/Garuba defensive lockdown pairing, and Christopher/Armoni Brooks offering microwave scoring off the bench. And we all know what Wood can do when healthy. So, that’s that.
Just take a look around
But there are still some assets out there worth acquiring potentially for some of the veterans that don’t necessarily fit the timeline. Maybe adding Ben Simmons to this roster would benefit us. Maybe even Myles Turner. T.J. Warren would be another good get.
But this all relies on how General Manager Rafael Stone views the impact of saying John Wall and Eric Gordon on this team’s current construction.
So what say you Rockets fans? Stay pat and let us grow, or add even more youth to the cause? It’s going to be interesting to see what happens next.
