Is Lebron James No Longer The Best Player In The NBA?

Lebron James, who is 6”9, 250 pounds, was highly regarded as the next Michael Jordan, coming into the NBA in 2003 as a 19-year-old young man out of Akron, Ohio. The highlights you would see strung together of LBJ throwing down for his high school Saint Vincent-Saint Mary. Anyone who watched him knew he was going to be special. In Lebron’s first year for the Cleveland Cavaliers, he averaged 20.9 points.

As the years would pass, many fans of the NBA came to realize they were watching the greatest player of a generation.

A Generational Player That Is Not Finished?

To this date, Lebron James has played for the Cleveland Cavaliers twice, the Miami Heat, and his current team the Los Angeles Lakers. He has put up some tremendous accolades like the rookie of the year in 2003-2004.

King James as many refer to him, has become an All-Star 17 times and claiming the All-Star MVP award three times. He has been named All-NBA 17 times. He has been All-Defensive six times, and the NBA scoring champion in 2007-2008. James has won four NBA titles and has been named MVP of the finals four times.

Lebron also has four league MVP awards. Lebron is third in most points scored in NBA history only behind Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Karl Malone. This is an incredible resume for when the Hall of Fame comes calling. The unique thing is he is not done playing.

Many believe he wants to play alongside his son Lebron “Bronny” James Jr. With all these accolades, and a continuation of hunger for the game, is Lebron considered the best basketball player in the NBA?

A survey that would provide motivation?

According to ESPN, a survey was issued to ten NBA scouts and executives. In this survey, the scouts and the executives voted on topics like who is the best player in the NBA heading into the 2021-2022 season? They also voted on the best move or moves in the offseason? The worst move or moves in the offseason?

There were other questions proposed, but the one that gained the most attention was the best NBA player heading into the 2021-2022 season. Lebron James would go to Twitter and voice his response to receiving zero votes. This is not a new situation as the same survey was conducted in 2019-2020, and yet again, Lebron James was left off the list. Lebron would proceed in leading the Lakers to their 17th title and accumulating his fourth title.

Who Is the Best Player in the NBA for 2021-2022?

In the end, the survey is just someone’s opinion, and Lebron is beginning to age as a basketball player. Determining who is the best player in the NBA can be decided by the league MVP. Personally determining who is the best player from a scout and executive standpoint, I think one must take into consideration what that player provides his teammates and the organization. Does the player make the others around him better?

All these things can be checked off next to Lebron James, but they can be checked off by others. This would be motivating and clearly, it has popped up on Lebron’s radar. When it is all said and done, Lebron is a generational player and will go down in history as one of the greatest to ever touch an NBA court.
