Vegas: Aaron Rodgers Likely To Retire Next Week

What an offseason it has been, Packers fans! For months now, analysts and other talking heads have spouted out ridiculous theories about the Packers and Aaron Rodgers. In the latest of the head-scratching predictions, it appears that many Las Vegas sportsbooks expect the NFL MVP to retire next week.

The news led Olympic legend and die-hard Packers’ fan Usain Bolt to release the following message:

The talk of Aaron Rodgers’ possible retirement is not really anything new. After all, for months, many have said that he would rather retire than play for the Green Bay Packers again. However, many of his current and former teammates believe that the idea of retirement is a joke. According to them, he is way too competitive to walk away from the game right now. He has many years left in him.

Aaron Rodgers Is Not Retiring

Very shortly after the posts that said Vegas odds-makers believed Rodgers would retire, David Bakhtiari, Rodgers’ closest friend, and current teammate on the Packers posted this:

Obviously, Aaron Rodgers is getting ready to play this season. If retirement were truly on the table, he would have done it already.

2021 Is Likely His Last In Green Bay

It is more than likely, however, that this upcoming season will be Aaron Rodgers’ last as a Green Bay Packer. Additionally, the Packers and top wide receiver Davante Adams have ended their contract negotiations. Following that news, both Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams posted the following picture on their Instagram stories:

The fact of the matter is that the Green Bay Packers organization and their two-star players are not on good terms. Aaron Rodgers, reportedly, turned down a contract extension, and instead wants fewer years on his deal so that he can depart after 2021. Adams is a free agent after this season and is demanding to be paid more than DeAndre Hopkins, the highest-paid receiver in the NFL.

That is a contract that the Packers just cannot afford. Of course, if things were different between the Packers and Aaron Rodgers, Adams would likely be willing to take less to stay in Green Bay. However, since Rodgers appears to head out the door after the season, Adams, who has stood in solidarity with Rodgers all offseason, is apparently going to follow him.

Super Bowl Or Bust For Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams

The Green Bay Packers were within one game of the Super Bowl last season. Their roster has only gotten better ahead of the 2021 season, and they are looking to make a run at the title. This will be ever more important as Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams will both likely be gone after 2021. It is, as their Instagram stories elude to, their Last Dance. In the famous documentary, Michael Jordan and others involved with the 1998 Chicago Bulls sixth Championship discuss everything from issues with the front office to their opinions about each other.

The Last Dance for the Chicago Bulls ended in a championship. If this really is the Last Dance for Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams in Green Bay, we hope it has a similar ending.
