Free-agent linebacker Bud Dupree plans to prove doubters wrong in addition to pumping up the Titans’ pass rush.
On March 15th, 2021, Bud Dupree signed with the Titans on a 5 year contract worth over $80M.
What does this mean For Bud and the Titans?
Some QBs don’t make that much money. But what does this mean for Bud Dupree and the Titans? It makes sense why the Titans chose him. This is a team he has always loved and said to his agent to “Get it Done” when he was alerted the Titans were interested.
In 2019, Bud recorded over 11 sacks and 17 QB hits. This means that the Tennessee Titans can improve the horrible pass rush that they had in 2020. And For Bud, this means that he can finally live out his childhood dream of being an NFL player for the Titans.
This could be a great signing from Tennessee as they had one of the worst pass rushes in Titans/Oilers history in 2020-21! They have also signed former Colts player Denico Autry. It would be no surprise to see some pass rushers drafted this year.
What does he bring to Tennessee?
Bud Dupree has played next to another great Steelers LB, TJ Watt for a few years now, and he has to have some information that has helped him given by TJ. Hopefully, he brings that to Tennessee. He is also pretty good at 1on1 coverage. He has even said:
Just turn the tape on, if I get a one-on-one, I win. With chips, I win. In the run game, no outside linebacker is playing the run game like me in the league. If you turn the tape on you’ll see me hit the running back three yards behind the line of scrimmage.
He also brings fans joy with the signing, as most fans have looked at him since the very start of free agency waiting for the Titans to sign him, knowing he could be a great fit in Tennessee.
This was a great signing on the Titans side, and let’s see if Dupree plays like an $80M+ LB for the Tennessee Titans.
What did Dupree think of the signing?
Bud loves the signing! He has always wanted to be a Titan. Here are some quotes from Bud after being signed:
Being overlooked my whole life. People thinking that you’re not going to amount to anything. That started the chip.
I will come in and bring a couple of things from my game. … We will come collectively together and make something special.” “I’m gonna hit! You’re not just gonna pay me and I’m gonna chill.
Tennessee just needs to hope he doesn’t turn out like J. Clowney did for them. And this could be a great signing!
