The Michigan Wolverines continue to flounder in the Jim Harbaugh era as they are now 1-2 on the season after their latest loss at Indiana 38-21.
Michigan fans across the country are growing more upset with Harbaugh by the week as his Wolverines team continues to underperform and lose games they have no business losing.
This is Harbaugh’s sixth year at Michigan, and he has yet to win a division title, let alone a Big Ten title, or compete for a national championship.
Harbaugh has a 48-20 career record at Michigan and a .705 win percentage. Yet people are unhappy and want Harbaugh out at Michigan.
Harbaugh will beat Illinois, Rutgers, Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska, and Northwestern all day long. It is the rivalry games and the overall record in games against ranked opponents that have the Michigan fan base in an uproar.
Since 2018, Harbaugh is 1-8 against ranked opponents. Harbaugh is 3-3 against his in-state rivals, the Michigan State Spartans. His Wolverines lost 27-24 to the Spartans earlier this year, a game that Michigan fans are calling the worst loss in the Jim Harbaugh era.
Let’s not even talk about the most important game on the Michigan schedule, the game against The Ohio State Buckeyes.
Harbaugh is 0-5 against the Buckeyes, and unless a severe case of Covid takes out all 24 starters for the Buckeyes, it’s not looking like Harbaugh gets a win this year either.
Harbaugh is also just 1-4 in Bowl games the last five years.
If the Wolverines decide to replace Harbaugh, who replaces him?
It sounds crazy to talk about replacing a coach that has a .705 win percentage, but here we are.
The fan base is tired of losing their most important games every year, and that has Harbaugh on the hot seat.
Hugh Freeze, the coach at Liberty would have been a good candidate, but he signed an extension this past week to stay at Liberty.
Freeze has led the Liberty Flames to a 7-0 record, and a spot in the top 25.
Jamey Caldwell at Coastal Carolina is another candidate that Michigan could take a look at.
Caldwell has Coastal Carolina off to a 7-0 this season and has them in the top 15.
The Wolverines host Wisconsin this week, and although the Badgers have only played one game, this is another game against a ranked opponent that Michigan will be the underdog.
There has not been a peep out of the administration at Michigan or even any talk of replacing Harbaugh.
Sometimes, the only way to get the administrator’s attention is to threaten to withhold donations from the university. Money talks and this will sometimes get their attention.
There is a good chance Michigan will be 1-3 after this weekend, and the cries will grow louder to get Harbaugh out at Michigan.
